This little place boasts an avant-garde spa centre situated in 25 hectares of delightful parkland which also includes hotels, a fitness centre with thermal swimming pools, a conference centre and a wellbeing centre. The waters were discovered by a simple local farm worker in 1924 and it was this that led to the creation of the whole establishment. The spa springs produce water with a high content of chloride, bromide and sodium iodide, with a significant relaxing effect, and sulphurous waters. The waters in Monticelli are indicated for respiratory and gynaecological conditions and lymphatic and vascular disorders, and are also important in the treatment of arthrosis and rheumatism. base from which to visit Castelli di Torrechiara and Montechiarugolo, as well as places connected with Verdi and the area where Matilde di Canossa ruled.
