Description
A medieval fiefdom of the bishops of Bressanone, located in Valgardena in front of the Sasso Lungo and Sasso Piatto ranges. Today it is a popular summer and winter vacation spot, the ideal base for excursions in the nearby groups of the Puez and Olde. The ski area is divided into three sections: Mount Pana, Col Raiser, and Ciampinoi.

From here one can follow many downhill trails, including: “Seceda,” “Seura,” and “Sasslong,” headquarters of world-cup competitions. Santa Cristina is included in the vast circuit of the “Dolomiti Superski,” that allows one to ski with a single pass in 12 different areas, for a total of 150 kilometers of slopes, 50 of which have artificial snow. There are many cross-country ski trails, for a total of 26 kilometers, which are connected with Ortisei and the Siusi Alps. There are also various opportunities for alpine skiers, such as the ascent of Sassopiatto (2958 meters), the fork of the Mesdi, and Roa, reaching an elevation of 2616 meters.
